New York Based Cryptocurrency Exchange Gemini Launches Bitcoin Cash

On Dec.7 the Bitcoin Cash fans ascertained that Gemini is listing BCH to the exchange interface this weekend. Since Aug.1 it took 15 months for Gemini to list the coin. The cryptocurrency exchange will also add BCH with five trading pairs including USD, BTC, ETH, LTC, and ZEC.

Eric Winer, Gemini’s vice president of engineering announced that Bitcoin Cash seeks to “build on the goal of the original Bitcoin and become an electronic cash system.” Furthermore putting some light to the news on Nov.15 hard fork that resulted in the split and birth of BSV, the company explains that BCH ticker will be assigned to ABC side of fork.

We are pleased to announce that Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is now available on Gemini! On Saturday, we will begin accepting Bitcoin Cash deposits, and trading will open across all currency pairs on Monday. For more information, please visit our blog on @Medium

BCH will not be accessible to BSV support

Recently Bitcoin Cash, split into two distinct networks and blockchains – Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin ABC. Winer’s post detailed that they will support Bitcoin ABC and will refer to it as Bitcoin Cash Ticker. He also stated that any cryptocurrency sent to Gemini over Bitcoin SV will be invalid and irrecoverable. Further elaborating that in the future, they may or may not choose to support withdrawals or trading through Bitcoin SV.

BCH proponents were thus happy with the news that the trading platform will finally add Bitcoin Cash. Also on Dec. 6, BSV overhauled BCH according to the coin market capitalization. Since the Gemini announcement BCH is on the fifth position.

Furthermore Winer detailed that the company worked closely with the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS) in order to list BCH. Gemini and Winer associates believes the New York company is “the world’s most regulated cryptocurrency exchange and custodian.” BCH will also be available to Gemini’s cryptocurrency custody business model which aims to attract institutional investors.
